Reporting Requirements
for Abandoned Wells
Definition of Abandoned Well:
Well Must Meet ALL Criteria below.
1. The well has NOT produced groundwater for a period of 1 year or more.
2. The well has NOT been maintained in a condition that demonstrates Intention of Future Use.
An abandoned well must be destroyed under permit from the County of Santa Barbara by April 1, 2026.

Submit Form by April 1, 2026 – must include a copy of the destruction permit issued by the County of Santa Barbara.
